Sun Island

Across the Songhua River from Stalin Park is Sun Island Park, a 3800-hectare recreational zone with landscaped gardens, mini-forests, a ‘water world’ and a dubious-looking ‘beach’ on the banks of the river. In winter it has its own snow and ice-sculpture exhibition. It is the venue of the Harbin International Snow Sculpture Art Expo. The excellent hands-on Heilongjiang Science & Technology Museum is at the west end of the parks.

Buy a boat ticket from the dock directly north of the Flood Control Monument. You can also take a cable car to Sun Island Park from the end of Tongjiang Street.
