The 50th Harbin Ice Lantern Art Fair opened to visitors in Zhaolin Park at 3:00 pm on December 31, 2023.
The theme of the fair is "Colorful Ice Lanterns · Chasing Dreams in Asian Winter Games". Within a planned area of 8 hectares, 280 large-scale ice and snow landscapes, ice and snow activity facilities, and ice sculpture art works was constructed, with an ice usage of 1,800 cubic meters and a snow usage of 300 cubic meters.
The park will hold various forms of ice sculpture competitions and ice and snow cultural activities, such as the National Professional Ice and Snow Sculpture Competition and the National and Provincial College Student Ice and Snow Sculpture Competitions, allowing Harbin citizens and tourists from all over the world to enjoy the beauty of ice lanterns, taste the charm of ice sculptures, and experience the fun of ice and snow while enjoying themselves.
Harbin Ice Lantern Art Fair was born in Zhaolin Park in 1963 and is the birthplace of Chinese ice lantern art. With 60 years of rich accumulation of ice and snow culture, it not only laid the foundation for the gradual development of the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival (simply: Harbin Ice Festival), Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo, and the Harbin Ice and Snow World, but also paved the way for Harbin's ice and snow culture to reach the whole country and the world.
