The 5th Harbin Ice Collecting Festival is set to commence on December 7th

As the cold winter descends with delicate snowflakes, Harbin, the shining jewel in the crown of ice and snow, eagerly welcomes the season of icy delights. Along the banks of the Songhua River, the annual ice collecting festival will once again launch the winter tourism season in Harbin.

On December 7th, at the beach tribe on the west side of the Songhua River Highway Bridge, the 5th Harbin Ice Collecting Festival, themed "Collecting First Ice, Celebrating the Asian Winter Games," is poised to make a dazzling entrance. It will provide the purest ice blocks for the construction of the Harbin Ice and Snow World, adding an "icy" touch to the creation of this enchanting ice and snow park.

This year's festival will incorporate more elements of ice and snow culture, cultural traditions, and visitor engagement, building upon the traditional ice collecting methods. The aim is to preserve and innovate ice and snow culture, culminating in a grand regional ice collecting ceremony.

The festival will feature a series of activities including flag-waving, ceremonial drums, prayers, wine toasts, the collection of the first ice, blessings, and more. Following the ceremonies, attendees can enjoy group activities, the tradition of collecting the first ice of the season, cooking frozen dumplings in a massive pot, preparing river fish in the river water, engaging in ice and snow activities, exploring ice and snow markets, and more. These events will transform the frigid allure of ice and snow into a vibrant and lively northern spectacle.

Following the festival, fresh ice from the Songhua River will be transported to the park for the construction of the 26th Harbin Ice and Snow World.
