Record-Breaking Harbin Ice and Snow World Welcomes Visitors

On December 17, the 27th Harbin Ice and Snow World unveiled its grandest edition yet to the public. Spanning 1.2 million square meters and crafted from more than 400,000 cubic meters of ice and snow—the largest volume ever used—the park transforms into a spectacular winter fantasy, blending dazzling ice architecture with enchanting snowscapes.

Opening day festivities featured vibrant drum performances and welcome dances, while the first visitors received commemorative “Day One” ice cans as special souvenirs. Towering above the park is this year’s centerpiece, the “Ice Lantern Igniting Dreams” main tower. Shaped like the Chinese character “山” (mountain) and seemingly lifted by snowflakes, it embodies the idea that “ice and snow are as precious as gold and silver.”

“This year’s Ice and Snow World is not only our largest but also richly integrates international elements with cultural appeal,” said Guo Hongwei, Chairman of Harbin Ice and Snow World Co., Ltd. Among the highlights are an ice replica of Wuhan’s Yellow Crane Tower, reflecting classical Eastern poetry, and a frozen sculpture of Brussels’ famed “Manneken Pis,” symbolizing Sino-Belgian friendship. The main gate, inspired by Harbin Railway Station, and a Baroque-style ice-and-snow complex further echo the city’s historical charm.

Beyond visual wonders, this year’s park enhances interactivity and fun. A major attraction is the 521-meter super ice slide with 24 parallel lanes, alongside a 120-meter-high “Snowflake Ferris Wheel” that offers panoramic views of the ice city. New technologies such as AI interactive installations and “frozen flower” artistry merge tradition with innovation, creating a dynamic blend of art and technology.

Entertainment programs add to the excitement. The “Dream Grand Stage” will host winter dance parties led by popular host “Brother Zuo You,” along with group singing, dance battles, and Northeast dialect contests. In the ice theater, the large-scale fantasy performance “Chariot of the King” delivers an immersive audio-visual experience.

Visitor services have also been upgraded. A newly built 5,000-square-meter air-dome structure, the “Warm Ice-Snow Castle,” provides cozy dining and resting spaces. To better serve international guests, the park now supports passport verification and overseas payment methods, and offers guide services in multiple languages.

“As a showcase of China’s growing ice-snow economy, the 27th Harbin Ice and Snow World turns ‘cold resources’ into ‘hot excitement,’” Guo added. “We invite the world to join us in this winter celebration.”
