Harbin Will Host 8 Ice and Snow Sculpture Competitions


Originating in Harbin, Chinese ice and snow sculpture art traces its roots back to the Harbin Ice Lantern Art Fair of 1963, marking the inception of Chinese ice and snow art. With a rich history spanning 62 years, the China Harbin International Ice Sculpture Competition, the earliest international ice sculpture competition in China, will celebrate its 36th edition this year. This winter, the city of Harbin has meticulously planned 8 ice and snow sculpture competitions.

Within these 8 competitions, two stand out as top-tier international events: the 36th China Harbin International Ice Sculpture Competition scheduled for January 2, 2025, at the Harbin Ice and Snow World, and the 25th China Harbin International Snow Sculpture Competition set for January 6, 2025, at Sun Island. Additionally, there are six domestic ice and snow sculpture competitions: the 10th Heilongjiang Province University Student Snow Sculpture Competition on December 16, 2024, at Sun Island, the 31st National Professional Snow Sculpture Competition on December 26, 2024, at Sun Island, the 19th National University Student Ice Sculpture Art Design Competition on December 28, 2024, at Zhaolin Park, the 5th National Youth Professional Ice Sculpture Competition on January 2, 2025, at Zhaolin Park, the 44th National Professional Ice Sculpture Competition on January 6, 2025, at Zhaolin Park, and the inaugural Heilongjiang Province Ice Sculpture Skills Competition on January 19, 2025, at the Ice and Snow World. The first Heilongjiang Province Ice Sculpture Skills Competition will award winners with professional skill level certificates, a pioneering initiative in the field of ice and snow sculpture professional skills.
